The Deo Chronicles

Deo served Gandalf, the wizard of the land, for many years. During that service, Deo acted like a mobile pair of extra ears and eyes for the wizard. He had many a covert operation where others would have broken down from the strain. His service was nearly complete, when he was assigned a mission to protect and escort an envoy to the kingdom in safety.

During this mission, Deo became fast friends with Tara, a guard in the escort. As this mission was quite lengthy and a major team effort, Deo and Tara began to grow close to each other. Near the end of their journey, in a mountain pass twenty miles from the border of the kingdom, their destination,
